Atomic Mass

Atomic mass (कोष्टक मास (Koshtak Mass)) is the measure of an atom’s mass, which is the sum of the protons and neutrons in its nucleus. The unit of atomic mass is the unified atomic mass unit, or amu (एमयू (AMU)). One amu is equal to 1.66 x 10-24 grams, or about 1/400th of the mass of a hydrogen atom. The atomic mass of an element can be found on the periodic table of elements and is the sum of the mass of its protons and neutrons.

Molecular Mass

Molecular mass (मोलेकुलर मास (Molecular Mass)) is the total mass of all the atoms in a molecule. It is calculated by adding up the atomic masses of the individual elements and any atoms that have been bonded chemically. For example, the molecular mass of water is 18 amu (2 hydrogen atoms times 1 amu plus 1 oxygen atom times 16 amu). Molecular mass can also be referred to as molecular weight.

The Difference Between Atomic Mass and Molecular Mass

Atomic mass refers to the mass of an individual atom, whereas molecular mass refers to the mass of all the atoms in a molecule. The atomic mass of an element is the sum of the masses of the protons and neutrons in its nucleus, whereas the molecular mass is the sum of the masses of all the atoms in the molecule.
