Introduction to Respiratory disorders/disoradures

Breathing is an essential function for life, yet many people around the world suffer from respiratory disorders. A respiratory disorder (or disorder of breathing) is any medical condition which affects the normal movements of the lungs and airways, leading to difficulties in exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide between the lungs and the atmosphere. The underlying causes of respiratory diseases can vary significantly, making diagnosis and effective treatment complex. In this article, we examine the different types of respiratory disease, their symptoms and treatment options.

Types of Respiratory Disorders

Respiratory partieses can be grouped into nine main categories, according to the type of disorder present and the associated symptoms.

1. Chronic Upper Airway Diseases

Chronic upper airway diseases describes any disorder involving the airways that appears repeatedly over an extended period of time, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasis (ब्रांकीएक्टाइज़). Symptoms of these conditions include difficulty in breathing, coughing, labored breathing and wheezing.

2. Neuromuscular Disorders

Neuromuscular disorders (न्यूरोम्यूस्कुलर विकार) affect the muscles and nerves involved in controlling the breathing process. Examples of these conditions include muscle weakness (kamjori), paralysis (पालेसीस), and nerve damage (नर्वे की नुकसान).

3. Congenital Conditions

Congenital conditions (जन्मजात की शर्तें) refer to any respiratory disorder which is present at birth, such as cystic fibrosis (सीस्टिक फ़ाइब्रोसिस), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (ब्रोंकोपुल्मोन्री डिस्प्लेशिया) and laryngomalacia (लैरिङ्गोमालेशिया). These conditions cause problems in the development and function of the lungs and airways.

4. Pulmonary Vascular Diseases

Pulmonary vascular diseases (पुल्मोन्री वैसेलर विकार) describes any condition which affects the blood vessels of the lungs, such as pulmonary hypertension (लूगा का उच्च रक्त चाप) and pulmonary embolism (लूगा में अंतरवर्ती).

5. Lung Cancer

Lung cancer (फेफड़े के कैंसर) is a type of cancer that affects the cells of the lungs. Common symptoms of the disease include coughing, breathlessness and chest pain.

6. Respiratory Infections

Respiratory infections (श्वसन से संबंधित संक्रमण) include both bacterial and viral illnesses, such as the flu, pneumonia and tuberculosis (खुजली). In these cases, the infection causes inflammation and irritation of the lungs.

7. Obstructive Lung Diseases

Obstructive lung diseases (अवरोधित लूगा विकार) refer to any condition where there is obstruction in the flow of air in the lungs, such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema (आमिलेमा). These conditions cause shortness of breath and wheezing due to narrowed airways.

8. Interstitial Lung Diseases

Interstitial lung diseases (इल्टीरस्टिशियल लूगा विकार) are disorders which affect the tissue around the small air sacs (alveoli) of the lungs, such as pulmonary fibrosis (पुल्मोन्री फायब्रोसिस). These conditions are chronic and can cause difficulty in breathing.

9. Other Respiratory Illnesses

Other respiratory illnesses (अन्य श्वसन की बीमारियाँ) include conditions such as tuberculosis, pleural effusions (प्लीयुरल पिछलाव), and pulmonary edema (पुल्मोन्री एडमा).

Symptoms of Respiratory Disorders

The symptoms of respiratory disorders can vary depending on the specific condition, however the main signs to look out for include:

  • Shortness of breath (श्वसन की कमी)
  • Wheezing (छिदराना)
  • Chest pain(छाती दर्द)
  • Coughing (खांसी)
  • Labored breathing (आवाजित सांसें लेना)
  • Loss of appetite (अपेक्षा की कमी)
  • Fatigue (थकान)

Diagnosis of Respiratory Disorders

Diagnosis of respiratory disorders usually begins with a physical examination and a discussion with your doctor about your symptoms and medical history. This is often followed by tests and imaging such as CT scan, MRI, X-ray or bronchoscopy (ब्रोंकोस्कोपी). The results of these tests can help to determine the type of respiratory disorder present and the best way to treat it.

Treatment of Respiratory Disorders

The type of treatment for a respiratory disorder depends on the severity of the condition and the underlying causes. Common treatments include lifestyle changes, medications, inhalers, oxygen therapy (ऑक्सीजन चिकित्सा), and surgery (सर्जरी). In rare cases, a lung transplant (लूगा का अलगाव) may be recommended.

Final Thoughts

Having difficulty in breathing can be a distressing experience for anyone. It can have a serious impact on your quality of life, so it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you experience any symptoms associated with a respiratory disorder. With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, many of these conditions can be managed effectively.
