The number of elements that can be addressed by a given address is known as the “word size”. For example, if the word size is 8 bits, then one address can store up to 8 individual pieces of data.

Memory Capacity

Memory Capacity (मेमोरी क्षमता) is the total amount of storage space available on a memory device. It is often measured in bytes or megabytes. Memory capacity is determined by the size of the chip and the technology used to construct the chip.

The larger the chip, the more memory it can store. For example, a 64GB chip can store up to 64 GB of data.

Memory Address and Capacity in Practice

Let’s look at an example to help illustrate how memory address and capacity work together. Let’s say that you have a computer with a 4GB RAM and a 64GB hard drive.

The RAM in this system has a word size of 32 bits, so it can store up to 32 pieces of data per address. The hard drive has a storage capacity of 64GB, which means it can store up to 64 gigabytes of data.

If you were to store information on the RAM, each piece of information would be assigned an address. Similarly, each piece of information stored on the hard drive would be assigned a storage location. When data is stored in memory, it is stored in the address space of the chip.
