Capacity

Capacity is another important principle of digital memory. It refers to the maximum amount of data that a memory system can store. Capacity is typically measured in bytes, kilobytes (kB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB).

The capacity of a memory system is determined by a number of factors. The most significant factor is the size of the memory cells. Smaller memory cells will have a lower capacity, as they are capable of storing fewer bits of data. The number of cells also plays an important role, as this will determine the total number of bits that can be stored.

Data ko address karne ke liye ek addressing scheme ki jarurat padti hai. Addressing scheme ek set of rules hota hai jo data ko store karne ke liye decide karta hai. Yeh physical ya fir virtual ho sakta hai. Physical addressing physical location ko reference karta hai. Yeh is baat ka matlab hota hai ki har memory cell ko address diya jata hai jisse ki desired cell ko identify kiya ja sake. Virtual addressing logical location ko reference karta hai. Digital memory ke andar capacity bhi ek zaroori principle hai. Yeh iska matlab hai ki memory system mein store hoga data kitna jyada ho sakta hai. Iskeliye bytes, kilobytes, megabytes aur gigabytes ki measurement hoti hai.

Memory system ki capacity bahot se factors se decide hoti hai. Sabse badi factor size of memory cells hoti hai. Chhote size wali memory cells ki capacity kam hoti hai kyunki wo kam bit store kar sakti hain.
