Wireless Networks (वायरलेस नेटवर्क) A wireless network is any type of network that utilizes radio waves, instead of physical cables, to connect computers and other computing devices. Wireless networks are typically used in home networks and public hotspots.
Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) (मेट्रोपोलिटन एरिया नेटवर्क (MAN)) A MAN is a large computer network that covers a metropolitan area, such as a city or a large town. A MAN is typically used to interconnect multiple LANs and provide broadband access to all users.
Campus Area Network (CAN) (कैम्पस एरिया नेटवर्क (CAN)) A CAN is a large computer network that covers a single campus, such as an educational institution or a corporate office. A CAN is typically used to interconnect multiple LANs in a single campus and provide fast data transfer.

Components of a Network

To understand networking, it’s important to understand the components that make up the network. The following are the most common components of a network:

  • Network Interface Card (NIC): A NIC (also known as an Ethernet card or network adapter) is a hardware component that enables a computer or other device to connect to a network. It typically contains a built-in connector and associated circuitry.
  • Cables: Cables are the physical medium used to connect devices on the network. Cables can be either copper or optical fiber. The type of cable used will depend on the type of network being created.
  • Hub (हब): A hub is a networking device that connects multiple computers or other network devices, such as printers. It acts as a gateway for data transmission between devices connected to the network.
  • Switch (स्विच): A switch is a networking device that acts as a control center for the network, managing the data flow between devices connected to the network and providing dedicated network ports for each device.
  • Router (राउटर): A router is a networking device that connects multiple networks together, such as a LAN and a WAN. It performs routing functions, such as IP address translation, network address translation (NAT), and network path selection.
  • Access Point (AP) (एक्सेस पॉइंट): An AP is a hardware device that allows wireless devices to connect to a wired network. It acts as a bridge between a wired network and a wireless network.
  • Modem (मॉडेम): A modem is a device used to connect external networks, such as the Internet, to a private network. It performs modulation and demodulation to convert digital signals to analog signals, and vice-versa.

Advantages of Networking

Networking has a number of advantages, including the following:

  • Resource Sharing (संसाधन शेयरिंग): Networking enables users to share resources, such as files, printers, and internet access, between computers on the network.
  • Cost Savings (किस्तों की बचत): Networking reduces the need for physical resources such as servers, printers, and hard drives, leading to cost savings.

  • Communication (संचार): Networking enables users to communicate with each other using email, voicemail, and instant messaging.
  • Improved Security (सुरक्षा में सुधार): Networking provides improved security by allowing administrators to set up controlled access to resources and data.
